On Tuesday night, Gustavus students Rachel Chase, Ian Shay, and Grace Haugen talked to a packed house in the International Center about studying in Perú last year. Some of the highlights of their talk: visiting Machu Picchu, lively descriptions of the bus system in Lima, eating in “chifa” (Chinese-Peruvian fusion) restaurants, visiting a traditional rural cemetery on the Day of the Dead, working on a service learning project that included building a house in a low-income neighborhood, and the difference between Peruvian and Minnesotan conversational styles. After the talk, the audience got to taste “papas a la huancaina” (Potatoes served Huancayo-style). ¡Muchas gracias!
