El Tintero de Gustavus is an online literary and cinematic journal written by students of Spanish at Gustavus Adolphus College. It features the original works created by students during their time abroad, here on campus, or in response to texts they have been exposed to in class. This volume featured: fiction, non-fiction, poetry, drama, short film and photography.
This year’s editorial board, comprised of Dang Le (Public Accounting and Spanish ’16) who is the Editor in Chief (right) and Saskia Raether (Biology and Spanish ’15) who is Copyeditor (left), launched Volume 3 on Tuesday, April 13th in 128 Confer Hall at 6:00 p.m. The journal volume was dedicated to Pablo Neruda because of his commitment to social justice and his resonating message of tolerance and respect toward others.
During the event, Profesor Carlos Mejía Suarez offered an homage to the Latin American poet, in which he reminded the audience that this was the twentieth century poet who taught readers what it meant to be Latin American.
Shortly after, published authors read their work to an attentive audience, comprised of students and faculty.
The editorial board for the 2015-16 academic year was announced at the end of the event:
Andrew Malo (Education and Spanish ’17) – Editor in Chief
Nate Long (Political Science and Spanish ’16) – Marketing
Sara Blinn (Biology and Spanish ’17) – Design
