This year, four Gustavus students who graduated in May 2016 with minors or majors in French are participating in the Teaching Assistant Program in France, or TAPIF. The program gives the opportunity to work in France for 7 months, teaching English to French students of all ages. Each year, over 1,100 American citizens and permanent residents teach in public schools across all regions of metropolitan France and its provinces overseas.

Marissa Haeny is in a smaller town, Melle. She teaches 11th and 12th graders at the Lycée Joseph Desfontaines. Kelsey Berryman lives in Nantes with a family and works in Angers with young beginners. Kalyna Rieland is in Poitiers. She teaches at the Lycée du Bois d’Amour (The Woods of Love HS). You can’t make up a name like that! Ellyn Sheehy (not pictured) is in Cannes.
