Mid-Autumn Festival is a traditional Chinese festival with a history of
more than 2000 years. Mid-Autumn Festival falls on the 15 th of the
eighth lunar month. This year’s Mid-Autumn Festival falls on October
4 th , 2017. Ancient Chinese believe that July, August, and September are
Autumn months. Therefore, the 15 th of the eighth lunar month is called
mid- autumn.
On Mid-Autumn Festival, family members get together to eat a fancy
pastry called moon-cake, an elaborate family dinner, and a variety of
seasonal nuts and fruits such as pear, apple, peanuts , etc. Mid-Autumn
Festival is really for family reunion and celebration of harvest.
