Spring 2022 Academic Assistant Introduction- Rachel K. Erickson Posted on April 6th, 2022 by

¡Hola Todxs!

My name is Rachel Erickson and I am a Senior majoring in Financial Economics and Spanish with a minor in LALACS. I have the honor to be the Academic Assistant for the Spanish section in the Department of Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures this Spring semester 2022. In addition to this role, I also throw javelin on the Track & Field team, play trumpet in the Gustavus Wind Orchestra, I’m in Finance Club, am an Economics Tutor, work in the Admission Office as a Tour Guide, I’m on the Leadership Team for the Gustavus Mentoring Program, will be inducted into Sigma Delta Pi this spring, and I am on the Executive Board for the Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC)! When I have some spare time I enjoy watching TV shows and movies, spending time with my friends, family, & dogs, going for walks, studying Spanish, and traveling.

I have been studying Spanish since 8th grade, and have loved learning it ever since. Coming to Gustavus I knew I wanted to keep studying Spanish so I can continue to have the opportunity to make more connections and have conversations with a larger group of people. The Spanish Department at Gustavus is honestly one of my favorite things about going to school here! I had the opportunity to study abroad Fall 2021 in Valencia, Spain and I am already planning for and looking forward to the day that I can go back. I intend to continue practicing Spanish after graduation, and plan to go to grad school for a Master’s Degree somewhere in Spain after working for a few years to gain some working experience. Let me know if you have any questions, comments, or if you’d like to talk more!

¡Gracias y nos vemos!
